7 Ways to get Cheaper Bus Trips

November 23, 2018 by Sally

Before booking a train ticket for your next trip, remember that trains can cost more than flights and that you can travel much cheaper when you do your homework.

As comfortable as travelling by train or car is, if you have a long trip ahead, the amount of money you can save when travelling by bus is worth the back pain and twisted leg. I promise! And it is also possible to make the option even cheaper. We have tips on how to find the best bus travel deals and the best travel companies such as FlixBus.

Book in Advance

Sometimes it’s easier said than done, of course, but if you know the dates you want to travel well in advance, you can save a lot on the price of your ticket.

Instead of changing costs until it’s too late, book your tickets as quickly as possible to get the lowest price. As painful as the early payment, you will be sure that the tickets cost more the day of your trip.

Break your trip

Of course, the easiest, most convenient and least stressful way to travel by bus is merely to take a bus that will bring you directly to your destination.

But if your budget is very tight, it might be worth considering other options. Sometimes it is better to book a ticket with a detour or bus change at a different price.

Expand your search

If you are using a ticket aggregator such as Checkmybus, increasing the number of search miles for your starting point and final destination can reduce the price a bit.

Sometimes, choosing the city centre costs more, but the drawback is that if you deviate too much from the course, you may need additional transportation to get to your destination. Therefore, it is useful to know if it still works. As a cheaper option!

Outside peak travel times

Travelling in less popular times is almost always cheaper because tickets have less demand. If you do not need to be at your destination at some point, you can save more by being flexible.

An excellent additional advantage is that your trip is likely to be shorter during low traffic hours since there is less traffic to fight.

Search for offers

From time to time, some companies offer free tickets (although there is always a reservation fee), and often their prices can be as low as $1!
